ORNAMENTATION

An exploration and celebration of earrings. supposedly insignificant accessories whose power to uplift and motivate is often unacknowledged. Does the choice of ornamentation reflect a women’s idea of self-worth and a need to enhance or control one’s appearance while simultaneously affirming power and confidence?  Unlike a ring or necklace, with their undertones of masculine control and containment, earrings offer opportunity for individual expression and unbridled joy.

Partially revealing a face,  the compartmentalising mirrors the internal space of a women endeavouring to balance desires and responsibilities. To be brave, fierce and uncompromising is demanded of us, however the struggle of self, versus unconditional love and nurture continues unabated.
